THE CHALLENGE:

To create a new affordable housing project that would not only tap into federal funding, but also create a marketable design to future tenants.

THE SOLUTION:

The growing demand for affordable housing is climbing as quickly as that for senior housing. Prairie View Heights offers a solution to meet both those needs through HUD 202 financing.

Set in a woodland area, the finished building offers a clean, straight forward approach to housing, with design amenities that allow it to compete in the marketplace. Community gathering spaces are centralized to allow residents and guests to congregate on the main level with dutch doors that enable activities to spill out on the front patio on warm summer days.

The exterior facade is broken up with differing colors and textures to create a charming aesthetic while breaking the massing into smaller sections that offer a more intimate curbside appeal. Each unit entrance is recessed with a shelf and window to allow apartments their own entrance character and opportunity for residents to view the activity in the corridors from the security of their home.
