Crisis shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault

THE CHALLENGE:

Create a new shelter that will provide:

•  A secure facility
•  Temporary housing for families
•  Conference and counseling space
•  Administrative offices
•  Dining, play and activity space

THE SOLUTION:

Providing shelter for up to six families (10 beds), the new shelter is designed with private family quarters, meeting and crisis counseling space, child play rooms, dining and community activity spaces.

Providing protection for victims of domestic violence, the site incorporates secured fencing and controlled access points, while the configuration of the facility itself affords separate public administration and private secured sectors. Accordingly, the central common areas allow staff and residents to work together to create a semblence of safety and community during meal and play times.
