THE CHALLENGE:

Elim Home looked to update the institutional model of this 1950's facility to integrate a smaller care environment for residents while growing the bed count.

THE SOLUTION:

Accepted as a moratorium exception project, this design not only added beds to the growing facility, but also reconfigured the resident units into neighborhood clusters.

As part of this new village-like design, common spaces have been turned into a community within a community with streetscape designs including streetside cafes, cabin like facades and multiple points of choice for residents and guests to socialize and observe community-like activities.

Along with the renovation of this skilled nursing facility, the Milaca campus is working to add independent and assisted living housing to its site with addtional supportive services and ministry center to serve its residents.
